LEAKS

Window Leaks

Window Leaks are in either a sash or a fixed pane. Short shunk back rubbers can make a leak worse but is normally not the cause.

Sash Leaks:
When the leak is from a sash it is usually from the top and is caused by the hinge stays not pulling the sash in tight enough to get a good seal replacing the hinges will normally fix this or depending on the type of joinery the sash top sealing rubber has shunk back and needs replacing not all sashes have a top seal.

Fixed Window Pane Leaks:
Fixed window pane leaks usually leak from one of the bottom corners and requires the glass to be removed and the frame resealed. The glazing rubbers are normally replaced at this time. If the fixed pane is leaking from the top it is often not the window leaking but something above it which is leaking into the wall and runs down onto the top of the window and it makes it look like the window is leaking
